Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office Court Security Division

The Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office is responsible for Courthouse and Courtroom Security for the Chesapeake Circuit Court, The Chesapeake General District Court and the Chesapeake Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court. All courthouses operate from 8:00 a.m.  – 5:00 p.m. For security reasons everyone entering the building is subject to search.

For security reasons the following items are not allowed in any of the courthouses:

WEAPONS OF ANY KIND CAMERAS CAMERA CELL PHONES TELEVISIONS
GLASS CONTAINERS GLASS DRINKS (LIQUIDS) HANDCUFFS
HANDCUFF KEYS TOOLS SCISSORS NAIL FILES
NAIL CLIPPERS TWEEZERS RADIOS KNITTING NEEDLES
RECORDING DEVICES BOX CUTTERS LETTER OPENERS FIREWORKS

ANY OTHER ITEM DETERMINED BY THE SECURITY STAFF TO BE CONTRABAND OR A SECURITY THREAT WILL BE CONFISCATED BY CHESAPEAKE SHERIFF'S OFFICE PERSONNEL
