Overview
The purpose of Special Investigations and Internal Affairs is to maintain and, where possible, increase the integrity of the Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office through the full, fair, and objective investigation of allegations of misconduct on the part of members and employees of the Sheriff’s Office.
It is the responsibility of Special Investigations and Internal Affairs to develop sufficient information to support an appropriate disposition of each matter being investigated. It is a fact-finding body, which will present the completed case to the Sheriff for final disposition.
If you believe a Sheriff’s Office employee has acted improperly, and you wish to file a complaint, you may contact the Internal Affairs Office at (757)382-6843. Normal office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
