All inmate postal mail must be sent to the following address:

The Inmate’s Name and ID number must be clearly printed on the outside of the envelope or postcard to ensure the mail is posted to the correct account. All regular inmate postal mail (postcards, letters, greeting cards, etc.) will be scanned into the system and available to the inmates to view


their postal mail via the inmate tablets. Legal Mail, Court Documents, Bank Statements, Packages & Publications will continue to be sent to the facility directly.  If your mail is rejected for any reason by the facility, you can be notified with the reason why the mail was rejected in whole, or in part. Keep in mind you may also register an account with Securus Technologies to send and receive digital mail.

COMMISSARY

The Chesapeake Correctional Center provides access to commissary services through an outside vendor. Inmates are permitted to make one commissary order up to $125 per week. Inmates must have sufficient funds in their commissary account to fill an order. To place funds in an inmate’s account, persons may access the commissary vendor accounts in several different ways:

  1. Deposit online at accesscorrections.com
  2. Deposit by telephone at 1-866-345-1884
  3. Deposit using Kiosk machines located in the lobby of the Chesapeake Correctional Center, 400 Albemarle Dr., Chesapeake, VA 23322
  4. Mail a POSTAL money order only to: Keefe Commissary, 400 Albemarle Dr., Chesapeake, VA 23322. Personal checks, cash, and two-party checks are not accepted.

INMATE TELEPHONE SYSTEM

Inmates have access to telephone service in all general housing units of the Chesapeake Correctional Center. Telephones are accessible from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. daily. Friends and Family can set up a pre-paid telephone account with the telephone service provider by calling 877-578-3658 or by visiting their website at www.videovisitanywhere.com.

FOOD SERVICE

Chesapeake Correctional Center partners with the services of Trinity Take-Out, a customizable meal program that provides delicious and high-quality food options to inmates. Family and friends can make purchases for their incarcerated loved one at www.TTOFood.com, choosing from a variety of unique entrees and desserts. Menus include items such as 100% All Beef Cheeseburgers, Chicken Tenders, Philly Cheesesteaks, and more. These flavorful, tasty meals are prepared on site to be delivered fresh from the kitchen upon order.

MEDICAL/MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES

The Chesapeake Correctional Center provides access to professional health care 24-hours a day through an on-site medical contractor. Inmates are evaluated and screened when they enter through Booking. In addition all staff and inmates are trained on PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act). Also, the Chesapeake Correctional Center provides a dedicated medical housing unit, mental health counseling, dental care as part of health care wellness, and access to medical staff through sick calls. The following medical services are free:

  1. Physical screening on admission
  2. Dental screening on admission
  3. Follow-up visits requested by medical staff
  4. Mental health screening
  5. Preventative/continuing treatment for documented chronic problems such as diabetes, hypertension, HIV, TB, seizures, etc.
  6. Sexually transmitted disease testing and TB screening

The following medical services require a co-payment:

  1. Sick call
  2. Doctor visit
  3. Dentist visit
  4. Prescriptions

Medical care is never refused to an inmate. Inmates who do not have funds in their account are seen by medical staff and a negative balance is applied to their account. When a deposit is made, the negative balance is deducted for the medical services rendered. Prescription medications received during the Booking process must be verified prior to any dispensing. Any medication brought into the Chesapeake Correctional Center that is unable to be verified or is not properly labeled is disposed of.

BOOKS, NEWSPAPER, MAGAZINES

All magazines and newspapers must be a subscription and include the inmate name and number. Books must come directly from the publisher and include the inmate name and number. A list of prohibited books - "Restricted Book List" - is available for viewing on this website.
